By God’s grace I was saved at the age of 13, called to preach at the age of 16, and I live to God’s glory today. I genuinely believe that I owe everything to God. God has blessed me with a wife, Jenny, and two daughters, Kennedy and Madison. God has given me a heart for biblical education: a bachelor’s from Williams Baptist College; a Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary; and I am currently working on a Doctor of Ministry degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. God has also given me a pastor’s heart for people. I desperately want to see people saved, Christians equipped, and God glorified. Having pastored churches in Arkansas, I am overjoyed to have been serving at Midway since June of 2002.
I was called to Midway in 2003 and I have learned a few things about myself since then (church is a good place to learn, isn't it?). I've learned that I didn't know God's Word as well as I thought and that God's word teaches that music is as much a part of worship as hearing the Word is. I've also become very thankful for the abilities God has blessed me and others in our music ministry with. My wife and three daughters have been truly blessed here at Midway. My desire is to create a Spirit-led music worship that enhances the overall worship experience. My musical background is more in conservative hymns and southern gospel, but God has opened my eyes and heart to modern praise and worship music as well. I strive to have services that appeal to the hearts of all ages...and yes, I am bald, but only because I choose to be.
I'm Beth and my family and I have been at Midway since 1998. We came here because we wanted to hear the Word of God. I've been doing secretarial work for the church for years and when Brother James came on the scene in 2002 we decided the church needed me to be in the office. It worked out great (God's timing is always best!) because my son had just started kindergarten and our office hours are from 8 to noon Monday through Thursday. I totally enjoy working here. There's not a day that goes by that we don't laugh, usually so hard we almost cry. This is the best place to work, just knowing that in some way I can help the church become what God wants it to be is the best benefit I could ever have. It wasn't a coincidence that we were invited to Midway one Sunday. While my husband, Chuck, and I were taking a Bible study class I realized that I wasn't saved. I always thought I was, but somewhere deep down in my heart I knew I wasn't. In God's goodness I was saved here! My son has also been saved here and our whole family has grown closer to God. This will always be my church home, and I hope it can always be my workplace too!
