Jeff Wright, Pastor
Brother Jeff came to Midway in 2011 after pastoring Welchland Baptist Church in Spencer, TN. His wife is Christie and they have four children. Jeff considers Desiring God (Piper), 9 Marks of a Healthy Church (Dever), Ashamed of the Gospel (MacArthur), Brothers, We Are Not Professionals (Piper), and Lectures to My Students (Spurgeon) to be the works – second to Scripture – which have most significantly affected his understanding of life, faith, and Christian service. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Liberty University and Seminary in Lynchburg, VA and is hoping to soon resume his studies at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. You can find his blog here and connect with him through social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
Jonathan Enix, Minister to College Students and Young Adults
Originally from the small town of Lake City, TN, Jonathan, 24, is a graduate of the school of Education at Tennessee Technological University. While Jonathan spends a large portion of the work week as a substitute teacher for Putnam County Schools, he doesn’t consider himself a teacher first. “I love to teach,” says Jonathan, “and it’s going to happen naturally because it’s a part of who God has created me to be. But my primary goal in substitute teaching is to develop impactful relationships with students that ultimately point them to Christ. I’m more of an evangelist-meets-counselor, and teaching gives me a platform to connect with new people every day as well as maintain healthy relationships with students and other faculty.”
In addition to his work with the school system, Jonathan served as the assistant youth minister at First Baptist Church in Cookeville, TN, for two years. In Summer of 2012 he moved to Nashville to work with an organization called Center for Student Missions (CSM) in training youth and college students to serve in an urban ministry setting. Jonathan’s work with CSM centered mainly on connecting with the homeless culture in Nashville and providing Biblical instruction for youth and students. Jonathan has been attending Midway since he moved back to Cookeville around the beginning of 2013. He also enjoys writing music, taking long naps, cooking carb-heavy dinners, being adored by women of all ages, and bacon. Not the really crispy kind. But also not chewy. It’s got to be just right. Al dente. Al dente bacon. . . . But, really, as long as it’s bacon we’re good. You can connect with Jonathan through social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ as well as find his music on Reverb Nation.
